Chiropractic is the fastest growing natural health care profession in the world. It was discovered in 1895 in Davenport, Iowa, U.S.A. D.C.'s (Doctors of Chiropractic) specialize in locating and correcting a serious condition known as Vertebral Subluxation. A vertebral Subluxation is a misalignment of one or more of the twenty four moveable bones of the spine. They are commonly caused by stresses and impacts to the body from poor posture, poor sleeping habits, slips and falls, vehicular accidents, sports impacts, strenuous exercise, work injuries, childhood falls, even the birth process. Subluxations cause dangerous stress to the spinal chord and the delicate spinal nerves which exit the spine between the spinal bones. This causes irritation to the nerves and interferes with their ability to function properly. This nerve interference causes the body to lose its ability to function optimally and ill health eventually results. Though serious even in their early stages, subluxations are often not painful. Chiropractic is a health profession concerned with the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of mechanical disorders of the musculoskeletal system, and the effects of these disorders on the function of the nervous system and general health. There is an emphasis on manual treatments including spinal adjustment and other joint and soft-tissue manipulation.

Dr. Sara uses many different techniques in her chiropractic clinic, as she feels every patient is different and unique and has a need for specific treatments plans suited towards their specific health care needs. The following are some of the different techniques that Dr. Sara is trained in.

Sacro Occipital Technique
SOT

The Sacro Occipital Technique, also called SOT, is a commonly used chiropractic technique designed to restore organ function and reduce pain. The Sacro Occipital Technique is designed to improve the neural communication pathways between the brain and spinal cord, and chiropractic clinics focus on this particular area to counteract many physical and mental health problems including respiratory problems, female reproductive dysfunction, headaches and migraines, and even visual disturbances. Adjustments are also performed to reduce pain and restore the spine to good health. The Sacro Occipital Technique is actually an entire system of chiropractic that involves analyzing the body and then performing a number of manual adjustments to release nerve energy. The elaborate methods and processes used for this technique involve analyzing the body’s structures and determining exactly where there is a nerve imbalance. Too much pressure in certain areas of the body can result in a nerve imbalance or nerve dysfunction. The sacro occipital technique methods can be applied to various areas of the spinal column to determine if there is too much or too little fluid in the area that is causing the problem.

Neuro Emotional Technique (NET)
NET

"The Neuro Emotional Technique is a methodology used in chiropractic clinics to normalize unresolved physical and/or behavioral patterns in the body. NET practitioners are trained to assist the body's healing process by identifying and balancing unresolved emotional influences—it's a mind-body approach. Emotions are traditionally thought of as being normal functions of human beings and normally pose no neurophysiological problem. Occasionally, emotional trauma in the presence of a neurological or meridian deficit can cause a physiopathological-related pattern in the body, which does not resolve of itself. NET seeks to normalize this pattern by physiological change; a result of a physical intervention. NET is used to help re-establish balance in the body in the form of a physical correction. NET makes use of the neuro-mechanisms of speech, general semantics, emotions, acupuncture and chiropractic principles, laws of the meridian system, cutaneous reflex points, principles of traditional psychology, and more."

Diversified Technique

Diversified Technique is the classic chiropractic technique, developed by D.D. Palmer, DC. and taught in all chiropractic colleges and chiropractic clinics. Diversified Technique was refined and developed by the late Otto Reinert, DC, to address bio-mechanical failure in each section of the spine, as it relates to specific subluxation. The focus is on restoration to normal bio-mechanical function, and correction of subluxation. In addition, Diversified methods have been developed to adjust extremity joints, allowing for beneficial applications in treating sports injuries and other injuries. Diversified adjusting of the spine uses specific lines of drives for all manual thrusts, allowing for specificity in correcting mechanical distortions of the spine.
